Warren County will increase property taxes

2.79 mills. That’s the amount the Warren County Board of Supervisors will raise property taxes this year. For every $100,000 of assessed value, the homeowner will see an increase of $28.00. A homeowner in the city will pay $926.10 per $100, 000, up from $898.20. A homeowner outside city limits will pay $567.30, up from $539.40. City and School tax rates will remain the same. Many residents of our county are struggling to meet higher costs of food and energy, and now must cope with increased property taxes. What’s your take on the board’s actions?

  1. Cheaper to live in North County is a False statement. We got a bunch of nuckleheads on the county board. Along with their increases there is: Water prices Ridiculous from Culkin water. Neighborhood Sewage is at a flat rate that is not even close to water usage for most people. Propane is Higher then the City’s NG. (include the tank rental for most). Price of Gasoline if you work in the city limits is the Biggest Expense. Just does not add up. On top of that Our kids get to go to the worst school Sherman Avenue. Yes, I want to move back to the City so my power comes on within a day of a wind storm. Dealing with Mayor Leyens is easier on my pocket book.

  2. From a city resident, its nice to hear bopeep speak the side of the argument not normally heard. Thanks for your input.

  3. Be glad you don’t have property at Eagle Lake. The county has labeled it a “Resort Area” and are taxing it at a higher rate. Pretty sad for a place that has 2 port-a-johns for a restroom at the public launch.

  4. So I am curious why you keep voting them in. By the time the next election rolls around will you remember this tax increase?

  5. People need to make their disapproval known publicly. Talking among one another privately rearly solve public problems.

  6. Hi! I was surfing and found your blog post… nice! I love your blog. 🙂 Cheers! Sandra. R.
