VICKSBURG CHARGES RESIDENTS 13-16 CENTS PER MCF WHILE NATIONAL SPOT PRICES HAVE BEEN UNDER 8 CENTS/MCF FOR MONTHS. ARE WE BEING OVERCHARGED?

  1. I’ve been wondering about gas prices too. I went to the City website and the gas price hasn’t been updated since 2006

Just wondering what other cities charge for a comparison. Does anybody have any info?

  2. I’ve tried to find gas prices on the web, too, but apparently cities and gas companies don’t post them. Probably the best way to compare is to ask people in other towns to send a copy of their gas bill to you. If you know some folks that would do that, I hope you’ll post the results on VS. I haven’t had much luck myself.

  3. I tried researching a while back and kept coming up with only local gasoline prices. Here is a price summary from the U. S. Department of Energy website. There is some good information on that site.

  4. The real question is why doesn’t Vicksburg privatize? The rest of the state has done it.

  5. Privatization would be a huge mistake. EVERY town that has gone private over public sees a constant price increase over time.

We need to set up a Public Service Commission to run the local Water and Gas separate from local government. The Public Service Commission will be an unpaid board to oversee the operation and cost efficiency of our local operation.

It will take the politics out of it.
